Top Ten Favorite Quotes

Here’s just a few of my favorite quotes that really inspire me.

1. “In a world where you can be anything, be yourself” — Etta Turner

This is probably one of my favorite quotes of all time. It’s so true. In our world you can literally be anything you want. But, just because you should follow your dreams, you shouldn’t try to become something you’re not. When persuing your goals, always rememebr who you are on the inside.

2. “Be your own kind of beautiful” — Unknown

I’m not sure who said this, or if it’s even a real quote, but I’ve heard it around a lot and even have it written in cute letters on my bedroom wall. It represents individuality and really speaks for my blog in the way that everything is beautiful in its own way. It also tells you to be beautiful in your own way, don’t be society’s definition of beautiful, be the beauty that you naturally are.

3. “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step” — Lao Tzu

This quote really tells you that if you don’t take the first step and commit to something you’ll never finish it. However long and complicated any goal might be, it always needs to be initiated with something short and simple. It can also be interpreted to show that there is nothing that will be completed if it isn’t started.

4. “It’s better to be hated for what you are, than to be loved for what you are not” — Andre Gide

Be yourself. Just be yourself, it doesn’t matter what others think. If someone doesn’t like you for who you are, do they really even like you? No, they like the fake person that you created. If they don’t like the real you, then they don’t deserve you. Where can you get in life surrounded by people who don’t know who you really are?

5. “If you love something, let it go. If it comes back it’s yours; if it doesn’t, it never was.” — Unknown

Here’s another quote that I don’t know the author of. There is a lot of controversy on this quote, some people believe it has a deep unspoken message, and some think it’s complete bull. I, however, believe it is true. If you let a pet go, such as a dog, it will come back if it really loves you. If you love someone, set them free. If they loves you, they will come back, If they don’t, they didn’t care enough. Needless to say, if they didn’t love you, it obviously wasn’t meant to be, and you are better off without them.

6.  “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” —Dr. Suess

First of all, I love Dr. Suess quotes, and this is one of my favorites. It really makes you think about things that you regret. But in reality, you shouldn’t regret anything, because at one point it was exactly what you wanted. Don’t be upset that something is over and gone, be glad that it happened, and that you were happy at that time.

7. “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…” ― Dr. Suess

Yes, another Dr. Suess quote. This another of my favorites because it tells you that only you can decide your future, don’t let others influence you. You are the only one who knows what you like and what you want to do, you will never be happy doing anything else.

8. “Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it’s stupid” ― Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein. Enough said. Just kidding, but seriously, he was a genius. Basically, I think he was trying to explain that everyone is unique, even when it comes to how smart you are. You can’t judge someone on what they can’t do without knowing what they can do. Just because a person isn’t amazing at one thing, doesn’t mean they won’t change the world with something else. Don’t judge someone before you know what makes them special, they might never reach their full potential, because they are being held back by you. Judging someone doesn’t define who they are, it defines who you are.

9. “The greatest accomplishment is not in never falling, but in rising again after you fall. ” ― Vince Lombardi Jr.

As a cheerleader, I know how important it is to never give up. When you fall (mentally and physically), you have to get back up and try again. You know what not to do next time, and you know how to make yourself better. Don’t be disappointed when something doesn’t go your way or you don’t do something right, it’ll only improve your performance.

10. “Whether you think you can or can’t, you’re right” ―Henry Ford

Perspective. Life is all about your own perspective. If you believe you can do something at look at it with a positive attitude, you will succeed. If you tell yourself you can’t do something, and lower your self-esteem, you won’t accomplish anything. Whatever you decide, if you can or can’t do something, your right, because what you think is how you will perceive something on how to go about doing anything. You can do anything you set your mind to.
